Criterion A Investigation
Podcats can be used for anything you want to. You can use them to tell people about your life, about a favorite tv show, book, movie, etc. Anyone who wants to can make a podcast for no reason. They might want to share their feelings about something because they feel bad so they need to talk about it, but they dont have anyone so they just make a podcast. Anyone who is interested in a topic that the podcast is made on can listen to them. They are probably either improvised where the person just starts recording and talking about the topic they chose, or they first plan it all out, maybe write a script and then record. Usually you make an audio and written podcast.
Our task is to create a podcast on adolesence in Mongolia. How it is here and what we do. Its important to learn about podcasting so we know about what mistakes we might do. We listened to a few of our classmates practice podcasts we did over the "break". Anyone can listen to our podcasts. They will probably be uploaded on youtube so anyone outside of the school can listen to them also. I am working with Kyu on this project and we still havent decided our exact topic or anything we want to do.

I only got the chance to listen to one podcast because it was about 90 minutes long. This podcast was just about a few people, i believe it was 3, talking about new music that they absolutely hate. I liked this podcast, because these people were funny, had no problem saying what they want to say and made the whole podcast more enjoyable with their comments about music. I found this on a random website luking up podcast, because when i searched topics that i liked, they never worked so i found a random one. A new podcast comes out once every 2 weeks. Matt, Howie and Bri are the 3 people that recorded this podcast. I forgot to mention that this is also about friends chilling and what they talk about when alcohol is involved. I find it funny listening to drunk people do podcasts.
Palace, Howie. "Throttle My Power Zord" Free Beer. 5/11/09: 49. 25/11/09.
To record a podcast you can use almost any kind of technology. From a computer to a phone, mp3, ipod, or even a camera. To publish it you can either pick a podcast website, register there, and post the podcast, or you could go on youtube or similar websites and post a video podcast there.
Test
A good test to evaluate this is to post the podcast on a podcast website, youtube or even on facebook, and ask teenagers in mongolia to comment on this saying if they think that the topic, problem or situation is true or not. They should also mention if the sound quality, clarity and things like this were good or bad.

Podcast practice
My topic is teenagers and alcohol. I chose this topic because its a normal thing these days, but in our parents generation, no one was able to do it, because they would get beaten by their parents and they never risked it, unless they knew for sure they wouldnt get caught.
The experiences are a lot different from our parents experience. Eventhough i am sure that our parents generation used to go out drinking when they were teenagers, they deffinitely didnt do it as much as teenagers do today. I think desires are different now, because i think we have more freedom than our parents did when they were young, so we want more and more and we take advantage of having more freedom.
Podcast Practice:
Hello my name is Nate and i just moved to mongolia a few months ago. Im 16 years old and i moved here because of my parents. My dad works for the embassy. So far i dont think mongolia is that bad, but its not that good for my future. I like to go out and chill with friends. I do some sports, but not that much. Im in 10th grade now and i go to the international school in Ulaanbaatar. I have many life challenges now, but the main one is to ged my grades up and get into the college i want to and study the major that i find most interesting. Hopefully i would have chosen what to do by the time i get to 12th grade.
I wanted to talk about parents and alcohol. This topic is quite annoying and irritating when it comes to parent child talks, because they never understand that its a different time now. They always bring up these stories how they never drank alcohol and how they were these pure little kids just running around playing and then working most of their day to help with the financial problems of the family. They just never understand that its a different time now and everyone drinks acohol. They should be happy that i dont do drugs or anything else. Here in Mongolia there arent many places to go out so my parents view of me is better because i dont go out as much as i used to in my previous country. I think that they should let loose a bit more and just let us drink. When we turn 18 they wont be able to do anything anymore. A lot of my friends that are around 23 always go out and drink with their dads so i dont get why we cant do it now. Its probably that they are scared that we might get too wasted and go to the hospital or get into a fight or something. I think that the only main reason is the age. Even if we are completely the same person at 23 as when we were 15 its the age that matters, the number. There also needs to be some trust with parents. If there is a lot of trust, then you could compromise that you will only take this amount of alcohol and then they can call you at some point that night and see if youre not wasted. If this were possible both sides would be happy i think.

Podcasts interviews
These are the questions that i have asked 3 teenagers and my mom:
- What do you think about love
- What do you think about frienship
- What do you think about sex
- Do you get stressed a lot
- If yes, then about what
- How do you cope with stress
I asked 3 teenagers to answer these question and they came up with:
Derryn:
- Love is cool, but you need to find the right person
- Friendship is awesome, friends are the best thing you can have in your life
- Sex as a teenager is alright, as long as both parties are ready
- Not really, occasionally though
- Work, Family
- Punch stuff/throw stuff against my wall, sleep, music, sports
Nalini:
- I think love is overrated. Very influenced by the media of what the stereotypical perfect couples should look and act like.
- "One loyal friend is worth ten thousand relatives."
- Too many teenagers have sex without meaning or purpose. once again, overrated.
- Yes
- School
- I dont. I normally just get so stressed that i freak out
Beom su:
- In love you have to protect your partner, believe them and stand by them at all times
- Responsible, trustful,reliable
- Its not right thing to do even both partners agreed, but if they thoughof it seriously and both partners agreed then its alright
- Not really no
- School, homework given at school
- Sleep, hang out with friends
This is an interview with my mom using the same questions:
- Its wonderful and basic human need
- Friendship is sometimes more than love
- Be careful and be educated
- Soemtimes
- Traffic jam
- Relaxation, yoga
Todays teenagers, they have more acces to information as in internet, which we did not have. We had a more calm daily routine.
These were the interview that i did. I have yet not gotten my moms picture, because it will be hard to get due to the fact that we are in mongolia and all my mothers early life pictures are in czech republic.
These are the answers to question 1.d.:
- My mother already answered this question for me. Basically they didnt have much access to information as we do now, so they had to search through books, which made it a lot harder. The advantage of that is that they had a more calm, down to earth daily routine, because they played games outside in the field, whilst we play in our rooms sometimes addicted to the game on our computers.
- This question was again answered before. I believe it is because of the technology imporvement, especially the internet. Without that some people would say they would die. Also cell phones and land lines have changed us a lot.
- I think i am happy to be born in this time, because even though i would have thought that cars going 20km per hour are something really new if i was born during my grandparents time, this is a lot better for me to get a good education with all the resources i need.
- I think our generation is more layed back, relaxed and sometimes a bit too relaxed. The teenage life is expected to be fun like partying every week, not doing work, which isnt a good thing. Technology also defines our generation. Without a computer or a cell phone, some people would just do nothing all day.
I cannot get pictures of any of my interviewees at this moment but i will try to upload them on my blog asap.
